Q: What kind of food is prepared?
Each menu is customized based on client likes and dislikes. Your Designer Dinners has a repertoire of thousands of recipes from every style and cuisine. Meal types include international, gourmet, upscale, continental, and comfort foods, as well as casserole dishes.
Q: Where is the food prepared?
All items are prepared and cooked in the client’s home. This is a Health Department requirement for Personal Chef Businesses. Most clients appreciate the security of knowing the food was prepared in their own kitchens.
Q: Whose cooking equipment is used?
Your Designer Dinners brings all of the utensils and equipment required for preparation. Clients are required to have an operational stove, sink, microwave, oven, refrigerator and freezer.
Q: What kinds of containers are used to store the food? Who supplies them?
Your Designer Dinners provides all of the containers. The containers used are disposable Paperboard containers, a recycled paper product. These containers are designed for use in the refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and conventional oven. The cost of the containers is included in the service cost.
Reusable containers are also available, but their use is somewhat restricted. In addition there is a one-time $50 set-up fee.
Q: How well do the meals store?
The food prepared tastes great and stores extremely well. When one of the frozen or refrigerated meals is reheated, it will taste as if it had just finished cooking. The quality of the meals prepared is of utmost importance. The recipes used have been tested by either the USPCA or the owner. If it is found that a recipe does not store or freeze well, it is not used.
Frozen meals can be stored up to a month with no loss in quality. Refrigerated meals should be consumed within three to five days.
Q: What is the cost of the service?
The cost of the meals can vary from $10 to $20 per serving, per meal. The actual cost depends on the number of servings prepared, how often meals are prepared, how restrictive the diet is, the types of food and cuisines desired, and the level of personalization for each meal.
Q: The cost seems about what I would pay for an entree in a restaurant. Why is that?
The service fee includes all components of personalized meal planning, recipe customization, grocery shopping, food preparation and cooking, packaging, labeling and storing your meals.
If you were to go to a restaurant, you must drive there, park, potentially wait for a table and order from a set menu that doesn't take into account your personal tastes and dietary needs.
With Your Designer Dinners, you can heat up a customized meal prepared specifically for you, and eat in the comfort of your own home.
